About Causeway Scrabble Challenge

Causeway Scrabble Challenge CSC is an international Scrabble team tournament, held annually (mostly) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It started life in 2002 as a 10-a-side tourney between the two countries across the Causeway bridge (hence the name), Singapore and Malaysia.

As years go by, the tournament organiser Michael Tang has continuously grown and improved the tournament with the vision to eventually make CSC a world-level team tournament for Scrabble. Scrabble powerhouse Thailand was included in the 3rd CSC. The Phillipines started taking part in the 4th CSC to make the tournament effectively a regional / ASEAN-level tourney. The inclusion of Australia and India in the 5th installment in 2006 took it further to the Asia-Pacific level.

Concurrent to the team event, an Open division has also been held since the 2nd CSC, to accommodate players who want to compete but are not member of the team representing their countries. This individual event has since grown to include players from various countries  including those not involved with the main event.
